Nick, a young punk rocker, and his hamster Bob head to Venice Beach for a day of skateboarding. Through encounters with unique local characters, Nick learns about resilience, creativity, and patience.

A giant shadow falls over Nick. It is Tiny, the strongest man on the beach.
"Muscles are good," says Tiny, lifting Nick up. "But getting back up is stronger."
Nick skates on. He sees colors everywhere. Bright red, deep blue, and sunny yellow.
They find a wall full of art. Luna is painting a giant fish.
"Make it bold," Luna says. "Don't be afraid to show your true colors."

Nick puts the sticker on his board. It looks cooler now. He feels brave.
At the big bowl, an older skater flies by. Whoosh! It is Ziggy.
"Bend your knees," Ziggy says. "Flow like the ocean water."
Nick takes a deep breath. He remembers Tiny, Luna, and Ziggy. He drops in.
He zooms down and swoops up. He did not fall! Bob squeaks with joy.
The sun sets over the water. "We make a good team, Bob," Nick says.
