    Leo Books Cookie Policy

    Last updated: 2026-01-17

This Cookie Policy explains how Leo Books (“Leo Books”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and local storage) on leo-books.com and related pages we operate (the “Service”).

    If you have questions, contact:

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

    1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function, remember preferences, and understand how the site is used.

    We also use similar technologies:

    • Pixels (like the Meta/Facebook Pixel) which send information about your device and activity to help measure ads and site usage.
    • Local storage (a browser storage mechanism) to store certain settings and identifiers.

    2. Types of cookies we use

    We use the following categories:

    A) Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Service to work (for example, to maintain secure sessions and logins). You cannot disable these via cookie preference tools because the site may not function properly.

    B) Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how people use Leo Books so we can improve the product (e.g., which pages are used, which steps users drop off, and whether the site is working reliably).

    C) Advertising / marketing cookies

These cookies help measure ad performance and may help build audiences for advertising (e.g., Meta/Facebook ads).

    3. Cookies and tools we use

    A) Better Auth (session management / logins) — Strictly necessary

We use Better Auth cookies to manage authentication and keep you logged in. These cookies are typically configured as HttpOnly (not readable by JavaScript) and Secure in production environments.

Common cookie names (may vary based on configuration):

    • session_token — stores the session token
    • session_data — stores session data if cookie cache is enabled
    • dont_remember — stores a flag when “remember me” is disabled

Purpose: authentication, session security, and account/session continuity
    Category: Strictly necessary

    B) PostHog (product analytics) — Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used and to improve performance and usability.

PostHog may store identifiers and analytics state in cookies and/or localStorage, including a cookie typically named:

    • ph_<project_api_key>_posthog

Purpose: analytics, product improvement, debugging, performance
    Category: Analytics

    C) Meta / Facebook Pixel — Advertising / marketing

We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure ad performance and understand the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

Cookies commonly associated with the Meta Pixel may include:

    • _fbp — used to help deliver and measure ads
    • _fbc — may be set when you arrive via a Facebook/Instagram ad click

Purpose: ad measurement, attribution, audience building
    Category: Advertising / marketing

    4. Do cookies contain my uploaded photos?

No. Cookies are not used to store uploaded photos.

Note: Separately from cookies, Leo Books uses uploaded photos only to generate your book and does not retain them beyond processing, as described in our Privacy Policy.

    5. How long cookies last

    Cookies can be:

    • Session cookies (deleted when you close your browser), or
    • Persistent cookies (remain until they expire or you delete them).

Exact retention depends on the cookie and your browser settings. Some tools (like analytics and advertising) may set persistent identifiers.

    6. Your cookie choices

    A) Cookie preferences tool (if available)

If we provide a cookie banner or “Cookie Settings” link, you can use it to:

    • Accept or reject analytics cookies
    • Accept or reject advertising/marketing cookies
    • Change your preferences later

    B) Browser controls

You can also manage cookies in your browser settings:

    • Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
    • Delete existing cookies
    • Set per-site cookie permissions

If you block strictly necessary cookies, the Service may not function (e.g., login/session features may break).

    C) Opting out of advertising measurement

You may be able to adjust ad personalization settings via your Meta/Facebook account settings and/or your device settings.

    7. Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control

Some browsers offer “Do Not Track” or similar signals. Different services respond differently to these signals. Where required by applicable law, we will honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals when feasible.

    8. Updates to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service.
