    1. Quick summary

    • We collect information you provide to create and deliver your custom book (like your contact details, shipping address, and book inputs).
    • Uploaded photos are used only to generate the book and are not retained beyond the time needed to process your request (see Section 6).
    • We share information with service providers that help us operate (payment processors, printing/shipping partners like Gelato, hosting, analytics, email).
    • You can request access, deletion, or correction of certain information (see Section 11).

    2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information we handle through the Service. It does not cover third-party websites or services you may access through links or integrations (for example, carriers’ tracking pages or third-party payment pages), which have their own privacy practices.

    3. Information we collect

    A) Information you provide

Order and account/contact information (if applicable):

    • Name, email address, phone number (if provided)
    • Shipping and billing address
    • Order details (book type, cover, shipping speed, etc.)

    Book creation inputs (“Book Inputs”):

    • Child name and other personalization details you enter
    • Storyline/style selections and any custom storyline prompt you submit
    • Descriptions you provide (e.g., pets, favorite toys, preferences)
    • Uploaded photos you choose to provide

    Customer support and communications:

    • Messages you send to support
    • Attachments you include (if any)

    B) Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we (and our service providers) may automatically collect:

    • Device and usage data: pages viewed, actions taken, timestamps, referral URLs, approximate location (derived from IP), browser/device type
    • Log data: IP address, error logs, performance/diagnostic data
    • Cookies and similar technologies: to keep you logged in (if applicable), remember preferences, prevent fraud, and measure performance/usage (see Section 10)

    C) Payment information

Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. We typically receive confirmation and limited details (e.g., payment status, last 4 digits, transaction IDs). We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

    4. How we use information

    We use information to:

    • Provide the Service (create previews, generate book files, and fulfill orders)
    • Process payments and prevent fraud/abuse
    • Coordinate printing and shipping through fulfillment partners and carriers
    • Provide customer support and respond to requests
    • Improve and maintain the Service (debugging, analytics, performance)
    • Send transactional messages (order confirmations, shipping updates, important notices)
    • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

    5. How we disclose information

    We may disclose information to:

    A) Service providers (processors)

We use vendors to help run the Service, such as:

    • Printing and fulfillment partners (e.g., Gelato or other suppliers) to print and ship your book
    • Payment processors to process transactions
    • Hosting/storage providers to host the Service
    • Analytics providers to understand product usage and improve performance
    • Email/SMS providers to send transactional communications
    • Customer support tooling (if used) to manage support requests

These providers are authorized to process information on our behalf for the services they provide to us and are expected to protect it.

    B) Legal and safety

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:

    • Comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests
    • Protect rights, safety, and security of Leo Books, our users, or others
    • Prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents

    C) Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

    6. Photos and book-generation data

    A) How we use uploaded photos

If you upload photos, we use them only to generate your personalized book content (e.g., to help personalize character appearance).

    B) We do not retain uploaded photos

We do not store your uploaded photos beyond the time needed to generate your book. Photos may be processed transiently (for example, in temporary processing storage) and are deleted promptly after generation.

    C) Do your photos appear in the printed book?

Typically, your uploaded photos are used as reference to generate illustrations, and the printed book contains generated illustrations and text—not the original uploaded photo—unless the product flow explicitly includes printing the original photo (if you later add such a feature, we will update this policy and/or provide additional notice).

    D) Model training

We do not use your uploaded photos or your child’s personal information to train our proprietary models in a way that would make them publicly reproducible, unless you explicitly opt in.

    7. Data retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:

    • Uploaded photos: deleted promptly after generation (see Section 6)
    • Order and fulfillment records: retained as needed to fulfill orders, handle refunds/reprints/chargebacks, and meet accounting/tax obligations
    • Customer support communications: retained to resolve issues and improve support
    • Logs and analytics: retained for security, debugging, and product improvement, typically for a limited period

Retention periods may vary depending on legal requirements and operational needs.

    8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    9. Your choices

    A) Review and correction

You may contact us to correct certain information (for example, address changes), but changes may not be possible once printing/production has begun.

    B) Communications

You can opt out of marketing communications (if we send them) by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us. Transactional messages (e.g., receipts, shipping updates) are not optional.

    C) Deletion requests

You may request deletion of certain information (see Section 11). Note: we may need to retain some information for legal obligations, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention.

    10. Cookies and similar technologies

We may use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies for:

    • Essential functionality (security, session integrity, checkout flow)
    • Preferences (remember selections)
    • Analytics (understand usage and improve the Service)
    • Advertising (if enabled) to measure ad performance and reach relevant audiences

Your browser settings may allow you to block cookies. If you disable cookies, some features may not work properly.

If we use advertising/analytics technologies that constitute “sharing” under certain privacy laws, we will provide an appropriate opt-out mechanism (see Section 11D).

    11. Privacy rights (including California)

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have rights to:

    • Know / access what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
    • Delete certain personal information
    • Correct inaccurate personal information
    • Obtain a copy of certain personal information (data portability)
    • Opt out of certain processing, including “sale” or “sharing” in some jurisdictions
    • Limit the use/disclosure of certain “sensitive” personal information in some jurisdictions
    • Non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

    A) How to submit a request

    Email privacy@leo-books.com with:

    • Your name and the email used for your order (or other identifier you used)
    • What you are requesting (access / deletion / correction / portability / opt-out)
    • Your order number (if available)

    B) Verification

To protect you, we may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. Verification method depends on the request and the sensitivity of the information.

    C) Authorized agents (California)

If permitted by law, you may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf. We may require proof of authorization and identity verification.

    D) Do Not Sell or Share (California)

We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense. However, if we use certain analytics/advertising tools, some disclosures may be considered “sharing” under California law. Where applicable, you can request to opt out by contacting privacy@leo-books.com.

We also aim to honor opt-out preference signals where required (such as Global Privacy Control) when applicable.

    12. Children’s privacy

Leo Books is intended for adults purchasing gifts and custom books. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or submit information directly to the Service. If you believe a child has provided information directly, contact privacy@leo-books.com.

When an adult provides a child’s information and photo for book creation, we process it only to generate and fulfill the custom product (see Section 6).

    13. International processing

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those locations may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

    14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, if changes are material, we may provide additional notice through the Service.
